Walrus Pump Repair

From the image above, you can see that there was water on the floor at the front of the pump. This was caused by vibration over time which caused a retaining bolts to come loose. This was caused by excessively rigid pipework from the pump, causing it to vibrate whilst running. This then caused the the retaining bolt to vibrate slightly. As a result there was a gaping between the motor housing and the impeller chamber.

Once tightened, the leaking ceased and the cause could be addressed. We fitted a flexible hose and an anti-vibration mat to alleviate the issue. This reduced the vibration of the pump by at least 75% (and also the noise).
